Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has said that up to 2nd August, 1 million tourists have visited the Maldives.
At a news conference held by the Ministry of Tourism, Minister Ali Waheed has said that while the new government will be one year old this year, the government’s expectation of 1.5 million tourists coming to the Maldives this year has grown.
The latest statistics released by the Maldives Ministry of Tourism show the overall tourist arrivals to the island nation from January till the end of June 2019 has increased by 18.7 percent.
While the month-to-month arrival count for 2019 has shown promise and growth, the number of arrivals to the Maldives for June exclusively reached 113,457 which marks a 21.0% improvement. In the corresponding month of 2018, the arrival count was at 93,786.
