Maldivian starts flights from Gan to Colombo

Maldivian Airlines, the national carrier of of Maldives, has started new routes with direct flight to Colombo, from  from Gan Island and Male yesterday. State owned airline is owned and operated by Island Aviation Services Limited.

With the new routes from Gan island and Male to Colombo, the airline expect an increase in the number of tourist arrivals.

The twice weekly frequency would operate from Gan to Colombo on Mondays and to Male on Fridays. Maldivian has been providing air transportation between Male international airport in the Maldives and the domestic airports in the country increasing frequencies to cater for the domestic demand every year and in turn increasing its fleet.
In 2008, Maldivian expanded its operations beyond Maldives to Trivandrum, India and since the addition of its A320 into its fleet; Maldivian has added Chennai, India, Dhaka, Bangladesh and Chongqing, China to its network.
