The Maldives is set to welcome more visitors from the Middle East following the announcement by flydubai of new flights between the Maldives and the UAE. The low-cost airline will launch the new air route on January 19 2013. Flights between Terminal Two at Dubai airport and Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in the Maldives are scheduled to operate as many as five times per week, and will be the first low-cost air links between the Maldives and the UAE.
flydubai’s CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said: “We are very excited about adding Male’ to our destination network.
“As the first low-cost carrier from the UAE to fly to the Maldives, we are making this island paradise even more accessible to travellers across our network. flydubai offers a low-cost model with innovation and excellent service. Between 2010 and 2011, the Maldives saw an increase in tourist arrivals from the Middle East of almost 78 per cent. Thanks to our strong presence in both these regions, passengers will be able to fly to the Maldives via our Dubai hub.
