Tour operator Kuoni has teamed up with a resort in the Maldives to carry out a dive clean-up as part of Make Holidays Greener month.
Instead of a traditional beach clean-up, Kuoni and the Kuramathi Island Resort are holding a clean-up of diving areas on Friday (July 15).
The dive clean-up is being organised from the resort’s main dive school with volunteers collecting debris and rubbish underwear around the resort’s reef.
Kuoni reps Darryl Dyer and Joe Kendel, who are both qualified advanced divers, will be among those taking part in the reef clean-up.
This will be followed on Saturday (July 16) by a presentation on underwater plastic pollution at the resort’s eco centre by Kuramathi’s resident marine biologist, which will include advice on how to prevent this type of pollution.
Kuramathi Island Resort is a Travelife Gold member and is sold exclusively by Kuoni in the UK market.
This year’s Make Holidays Greener month is being run by Abta and one of the main initiatives involves beach cleans at resorts around the world.
